I started
learning with Paul in September 2003 at the age of 35. I'd had lessons for
about 6 months when I was a kid but had given
them up as I thought that they were boring and, as is often the case,
spent the next few decades regretting it. I was lucky enough hear of Paul
and was convinced that I had found the right teacher for me in about 20
minutes. The fact that I was an adult who couldn't play the piano wasn't a
problem. I was put very much at my ease straight away. The level of
teaching was just right (fairly basic stuff when I started, but his
attitude was definitely not like he was teaching a child). In the 3 years
since I started I have passed 4 exams with distinction thanks to his
teaching.
Not only have I learnt a lot about playing the
piano, but my appreciation of music generally has increased since I
started with Paul. He is always very positive. It doesn't matter what mood
I'm in when I start the lesson - I always leave with a spring in my step.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul to any adult learners - whilst his
style is very informal, he has always managed to judge how hard to push
me.

I have been
learning piano with Paul for 2 years and was a complete beginner when I
started. With Paul's patient and entertaining teaching I was delighted to
pass my first exam with high distinction last year.
Paul has a very pleasant and easy going manner and makes learning great
fun. His enjoyable and relaxed methods of teaching have really helped me
to get a better understanding of the basics of all aspects of music.
Paul is always very encouraging and as an adult learner it is good to have
someone who understands that it is not always easy to fit in piano
practise around work and family life.
Paul is completely reliable, always punctual and I would thouroughly
recommend him to anyone wishing to further their musical education or to a
complete beginner as I was.

Our son, Jack, has been taught piano by Paul for more than two years. Jack
has learning difficulties and Paul has managed this situation brilliantly,
enablling Jack to progress with confidence at a rate that suits him. Paul
is a talented musician in his own right and a very experienced teacher.
We have been very impressed by the versatility of Paul's teaching. He has
succeeded in imparting both musical skills and skills for life and
learning. His approach is very structured, incorporating child-centered
activities and incentives, as well as consistent discipline. He also has a
love of theatre and tomfoolery which can make chilldren giggle. It's a
wonderful combination.
Friends recommended us to Paul and we gladly pass on this recommendation.
